Well, here goes my first ever devlog. I decided to create a game based in Kherana, a land loosely inspired by ancient Egypt and classic N64 games like Zelda and Banjo-Kazooie, and also some later games like Morrowind and Dark Souls. But let's not get too far ahead of ourselves here! I'm learning 3d modelling for the first time, in fact this has been inspired by me randomly deciding to have a play with blender last week and absolutely loving it.
I'm using a low-poly style and at this point just trying to create a little test environment. Right now it feels like doing anything in blender takes forever, but the more I do the easier it's getting! My favourite thing to make has been the little mushrooms, they're so cute and I love them. I want to add some textures, but I made the mistake of trying to hand-paint them all before watching some tutorials and seeing it's much more effective to take and edit photos instead, so that's what I'll be trying next. I also tried to add some fog, but completely failed so far. Whoops!
Anyway, here's a picture of my little scene so far.
